Before any research starts, an initial consultation is held with clients to discuss their objectives as well as previous research carried out, records held or information known about the family, ancestor line, generation or house to be investigated. From this consultation, the focus and detail of the research is agreed and documented, along with cost and any expenses associated with conducting the research.
For Scottish family research, expenses normally incurred relate to the £15 day pass for the ScotlandsPeople Centre. However, this charge will be pro-rata in the event your research does not require a full day of research. Should any extensive travel be needed to fulfil your research, this would be discussed and costs agreed in advance.
In the initial stages of your research, should any issues in delivering your research objectives become apparent, these would be highlighted and alternative options discussed.
On our recent relocation our interest was taken in the history of the property. We were amazed with both the wealth of information
Catriona was able to tell us about our home and her fastidious delivery. What more could one desire? Nothing!

A huge thank you for the history of my family. It answers loads of questions, especially on the Irish connections, and cleared up names and who was called after who. Thanks again, it's a wonderful piece of research.
Margaret, Ayrshire, Scotland. 2020
The report is brilliant. Thank you. Interesting to see how names were carried from generation to generation and great to finally find out where in Ireland my family came from.
Carol, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
I was adopted as a baby and as I approached my 80th birthday, I decided to find out about my birth family. I had little information but Catriona quickly unearthed details of my background. I'm now in regular contact with 3 siblings which would not have been possible without Catriona's expertise. Many thanks.
